What should I do with a $50k bonus?

My work surprised me with a way bigger bonus than I expected. I have an idea for what I want to do with it but I’m not 100% sure. I’m 30, live in a VHCOL city. I don’t have any debt right now and would like to start saving for a house. My salary is right around $140k/yr. My assets: - $15k emergency fund invested in SGOV (about 3 months worth of expenses) - $145k in a 401k, this is invested in a generic fidelity etf - enough in my checking account to cover all my autopay bills and April expenses I’m definitely planning on maxing out my 401k with the bonus, which’ll leave me with about $17k after tax to play around with. Ideally I’d like to bump up my emergency fund to 6 months, but I’m debating if I should put it in a Roth IRA. I have all of my 2025 and 2026 contribution space left. submitted by /u/Few_Crazy1532 [link] [comments]
