Prune hydrangea canes?
We have two bigleaf(?) hydrangea bushes. One has bloomed pink blooms for the last 5(?) years. The one that blooms (pictured) has, on occasion grown leaves out of old canes which lead me to belief it might be a hybrid of some type. The other grins beautifully big green leaves but has never had flowers. I left the canes as shown because I wasn't sure (im still not) if there might be blooms on old canes. Question 1: Should I prune the old canes now? Question 2: at what point should I give up on the hydrangea that never blooms (its only a few feet away from the one that blooms) and dig it up? it is so big and healthy that I can't just kill it so ill have to at least try to transplant it and its huge (maybe 1.5m in diameter/tall)? submitted by /u/disillusionedthinker [link] [comments]
