Printing a silicone mold out of PLA/TPU

Working on an infant surgery simulator. I've been printing most of the components, but the tissue and skin layers need to be silicone. Part of the project is to make the files available for other surgeons, and silicone molds are painful and tedious to replicate. After a bunch of failed pours and literally having to destroy the molds to get the objects out I have a pretty workable solution. PLA inner layer provides support for the weight of the silicone. TPU is stiff enough to hold its shape but bends enough to release from the silicone. Used Boolean function to create screw holes and printed screws and wingnuts out of PTFE. Hopefully others can replicate and refine the models. submitted by /u/PectusSurgeon [link] [comments]
