Dentist grossly misquoted me

ETA: thanks everyone who replied. I understand my next steps and will be stepping away from the post now. I hope this saves someone some headache in the future. Hello, turns out I'm not the first person to be dealt this hand (you don't know until it happens to you, I guess...) but my situation seems to have a few different details. My dentist told me they called my insurance and subsequently provided me a treatment plan with prices, insurance payment, and patient share. They advised me to get a nightguard for bruxism. The fee was listed as $358, with 50% insurance coverage ($179 my share). I have now read enough posts to know that I should not trust anyone, despite them saying they called my insurance. Apparently they asked about other charge codes. Which feels unfair, but ok, lesson learned. The problem now: my claim was denied, but the office didn't charge $358 - they charged $1,428. Eight times more! I consented to treatment based on the cost estimate provided to me. I called insurance, they told me that the office is wrong but it's my problem. I called the dentist and they're so far running me in circles. What is my point of recourse here? TIA. submitted by /u/CheckSubstantial4547 [link] [comments]
